Construction started at Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai highly appreciated the construction of the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant during the demand in electricity continues rising in Vietnam, especially there will be a power shortage in the Southern Vietnam during the period of 2017-2019.
The Deputy Prime Minister also appreciated the significance of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant as a new development of the Vietnamese electricity industry for this is the first large-scale power plant that the design is chaired by Vietnamese, with the characteristic of using large-scale coal and high proportion of local partners.
The Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant project has a total investment of VND 36,000 billion. It is the key power project that the Prime Minister has allowed a number of specific mechanisms and policy for investment.
Praising investors: local partnerships contractors Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Corporation (South Korea), Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan) and Pacific Group Corporation and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 , the funding institutions of the project , Deputy Prime Minister wishes the parties to coordinate and carry out the construction of the plant according to the current regulations on investment management and project quality management, ensuring labor safety and to comply with the commitments stated in the signed contract. Parties need to ensure the time of the project so that the first unit of the plant would be in operation in 2017, the whole plant in 2018. Ensure a stable life of people surrounding project areas, environmental security, coal demand, and ability to transport fuel and resources for the project.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Quy - member of the National Assembly XIII, Chairman of Pacific Corporation - member of the EPC contractor Consortium has awarded VND 700 million for social and charitable activities of the Binh Thuan province.
The Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is the key project in the national electric development plant. It is one of the projects to supply the demand in electricity of the Southern Vietnam from 2017 onwards. The scale of the project is 1,200 MW, supply more than 7.2 billion kWh to the national grid each year, accounted for 5% of the total national output of electricity.
The Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is owned by the Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3), implementing in the form of EPC with a total investment of more than VND 36,700 billion.
The plant uses the thermal condensing technology with modern equipment, high power and performance, guarantees the requirements of environmental protection according to the Vietnamese and international standards.
