Vietnam - Israel discussed on defense cooperation

According to some sources, the discussion related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and military technology as well as the production of military products.

In the framework of the visit, the Vietnam’s defense officials visited a number of production of defense products in Israel.

According to HIS Jane's journal, Israel has extensive experience in providing military equipment to Vietnam. In 2005, Elta Electronics Industries Corporation installed a number of electronic devices on a dedicated military chassis armored reconnaissance Ram-2000. In the period 2004-2005, two countries held negotiations on that Vietnam can produce  ammunition containers for Israel.

Vietnam also expressed great interest for the purchase of equipment regarding electronic communication and proposed Israel to modernize some weapons originating from the Soviet Union.

From 2009 onwards, when diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States has improved, the U.S. has considered the issue of easing military embargo against Vietnam, two countries defense relations have been improved since.

IHS Jane's noted that this is a good opportunity for Israel to enter the weapons market in Vietnam.
