At the inauguration Ceremony, Mr. Trinh Dinh Dung, Minister of Construction said that the construction of Vinh Tan Port invested by non-state funds representing a breakthrough in the development of transport infrastructure, especially by sea, in accordance with the development trend in the new situation. At the same time, That investment shows the responsibility of non-state enterprises in contributing to promote socio-economic development of the country. In the next time, Binh Thuan and Pacific Corporation will continue to remove difficulties, facilitate to implement the project to ensure safety, on schedule to put into use
The Investor of Vinh Tan General Port Project is Vinh Tan General Port Joint Stock Company with total investment of about 2,300 billion dong. The scope of the project's stage 1 includes two berths for ships of up to 30,000 DWT (Measurement unit of safe transport capacity of ships in tonnes) and a berth for public service combined to ships of up to 3,000 DWT with a used surface area of 140ha, in which over 50 hectares of water surface area is used for leveling to construct warehouses, internal transport infrastructure and after port services. The project expected to be completed at the end of 2016 and the operation duration of the project is 70 years. Expected demand for goods through the port in 2020 is 4-6 million tons / year
Once completed and put into operation, Vinh Tan General Port will meet the demand for import and export of general goods for socio-conomic development of Binh Thuan, in the south of Ninh Thuan, a part of Central Highlands and neighboring provinces in South Central Region, from that contributes to promoting the socio-economic development, increasing investment attraction, increasing the local budget and creating more jobs for employee in the region.
Binhthuan has long coastline of 192km which is very favorable for construction of port system for transportation by sea However, at present, within the area only Phanthiet Port is available with general terminal for vessels of 1000 tons, mainly serving for transportation of cargos, passengers from PhanThiet to PhuQuyisland district and vice versa. At present, the cargoes, products of province aremainly transported by road. Therefore, the construction and putting Vinh Tan port into use is extremely necessary for BinhThuan and South Central Coast region which contributes to reduction price of products, increase in competitiveness in the market, extension of trade route.
